La Maison du Conte is located in Chevilly-Larue, a city of the Val de Marne (18000 inhabitants) only a few kilometers away from Paris.
A LITTLE HISTORY…
From 1980 to 1992, the Centre Culturel of Chevilly-Larue organized a Storytellers’ Festival which in time has become one of the flagship events of this discipline and the very core of the storytelling revival tide.
In 1993, the Centre Culturel sets up La Maison du Conte which dedicates its activities mainly to supporting artists and their new shows.
Since October 1999, La Maison du Conte has moved into the walls of the Villa Lipsi, previously owned by sculptor Maurice Lipsi.
In 2001, Michel Jolivet asks Abbi Patrix to work with him both as guest and partner.
Since June 2003, they share the management of La Maison du Conte. They have gathered around them a whole team of artists, professionnal storytellers or young apprentices who have become fully committed to this House.
LA MAISON DU CONTE AND ITS GOALS
Residence and Creation La Maison du Conte regularly gives an opportunity for young artists to express themselves, prominently featuring those who tend to develop a repertoire related to a specific area, and more generally who demonstrate a modern and innovative spirit. Each season sees several artists settle in for a residence. We give them the support they need and allow them to perform on stage either at the Centre Culturel or at La Maison du Conte
Transmission and Research
From 2003 to 2006, Abbi Patrix and La Maison du Conte gathered and worked step by step with 18 storytellers all hailing from different backgrounds, leading them through both a teaching process and an exploration of their art. In 2007, this experience was carried out with a renewed team of 15 storytellers who now come to work three days a month at La Maison du Conte.
This year, La Maison du Conte shall accommodate two Labs : the Creation Lab under the direction of Abbi Patrix, and a second one called Lit’oral, run by Haïm Isaacs and Didier Kowarsky. This unprecedented experience demonstrates the will of La Maison du Conte to list its activities and actions in a resolutely collective dimension.
At the end of each year, the Lab members show the fruit of their work and research while participating in one or several public performances : « The Gardens ».
La Maison du Conte offers the possibility for both professionnal storytellers and apprentices, teachers and infancy educators to follow various forms of training, such as workshops, week-ends or monthly courses.
Master-classes, conferences and performances are also organized in order to pass on the basics of our art and discipline, hosted by key figures and well-known artists. These may take place at La Maison du Conte or other venues – this year for example, at the Centre Pompidou.
Special days called “Les Journées du Grand Dire” are regularly taking place – a play on words between « Great Telling » and « to grow ». They represent an opportunity of meeting and a bringing face to face between scientists, intellectuals, research workers’ opinions on the one hand, and the expression of storytellers and artists about subjects such as stories and childhood, mythology, wonder tales, language…
The welcoming of performances
We work in constant partnership with the Centre Culturel and welcome several shows produced by either well-known or young artists. Both La Maison du Conte and the Centre Culturel have adjustable theatres at their disposal (70 to 400 seats). Each event is also an opportunity to set off new performances. We happen to work each year in partnership with the state organization responsible for the French language and participate in the Week of the French Language
Raising awareness around artistic issues – Cultural policies
We draw up various projects in association with schools, day nurseries, libraries… in collaboration with storytellers and artists who are close to us. We ask them to work with men and women in jail, or out in the street, in people’s homes or in a specific area in association with local authorities and associations to collect stories. These projects are the very core of our mission, for the collecting of stories is both a working method, a source of creativity and the most appropriate tool to generate social cohesion along with a harmonious relationship between the storyteller and his audience.
We experience these adventures as a wonderful way to share our passion of stories with those who have no access to performances or to the practice of an art form.
We reckon that these actions all put together concern around 7000 to 8000 people each year.

La Compagnie du Cercle, a government-subsidized company, is run by Abbi Patrix and has established itself in la Maison du Conte : it produces, creates, organizes and sells Abbi Patrix’ shows and creation projects. It does contribute to several collective projects rooted in the Ile-de-France territory.

La Maison du Conte is part of a wider structure – Mondoral – which has brought together the four national leading centres representing storytelling in France, supporting storytelling and the arts of speech on a nationwide scale. Its directory is open to artists, festival organizers, companies, amateurs, artistic agents, professors.

The national storytelling and arts of speech network
La Maison du Conte is a member of a storytelling network, a group of professionnal companies and/or organizations dedicated to the arts of speech in France. These associations are deeply committed to the area where they’re located and to the people living there. Their numerous cultural projects are a reflection of a will to develop and collectively promote our discipline.
FEST
It was last year when a european federation project was initiated with the help of three different organizations in Norway, Sweden and Great Britain (Scotland). Spurred on by Abbi Patrix, La Maison du Conte was one of the co-founding structures. The goal is to offer support and supply enough information data, thus developing a higher media profile of our discipline through its professionnal representatives. Our ambition is to create a genuine european network.
To fulfill this purpose, 60 members gathered for a 3 days meeting last August in Switzerland ; each member belonged to one of the numerous cultural organizations stemming from 17 different European countries.

Das Maison du Conte befindet sich in Chevilly-Larue, einer Stadt von 18000 Einwohnern des Département Val-de-Marne, in der Region Ile de France, nur wenige Kilometer von Paris entfernt.
Seine Geschichte in einigen Daten :
> Von 1980 bis 1992 organisiert das Kulturzentrum der Stadt Chevilly-Larue das Festival der Geschichtenerzähler, das sich zu der wichtigsten Veranstaltung zur Wiederbelebung der Tradition des Erzählens entwickelt hat.
> Im Jahr 1993 gründet das Kulturzentrum das Maison du Conte (Haus des Erzählens), deren Hauptaktivität darin besteht die Künstler bei der Schöpfung ihrer Aufführungen zu unterstützen.
Seit dem 6. Oktober 1999 befindet sich das Maison du Conte in der Villa Lipsi, dem ehemaligen Wohnhaus des Bildhauers Morice Lipsi.
> Im Jahr 2001 beruft Michel Jolivet den Erzähler Abbi Patrix als künstlerischen Partner an seine Seite.
> Seit Juni 2003 leiten sie gemeinsam das Maison du Conte, wo sie ein Team von etablierten und noch in der Ausbildung befindlichen Künstlern aufgestellt haben, die sich für das Haus engagieren.
Die Aufgaben Das Maison du Conte
> Künstler-Residenz und Kreation
Das Maison du Conte versteht sich als Sprachrohr für junge Künstler und auch für solche, deren Werke einen Ortsbezug herstellen, sowie auch für innovative und zeitgenössiche Erzählungen. Jede Saison werden mehrere Geschichtenerzähler für einige Wochen oder gar Monate in das Haus eingeladen. Sie werden bei ihren Werken begleitet und haben die Möglichkeit ihre Aufführungen einem Publikum im Maison du Conte oder im Theatrum André Malraux der Stadt Chevilly-Larue zu präsentieren.
> Übermittlung und Forschung
Von 2003 bis 2006 haben Abbi Patrix und Das Maison du Conte 18 Erzähler verschiedener Richtungen auf dem Weg einer künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung begleitet, und zwar einerseits durch pädagogische Anleitung und anderereseits durch Anregung zur künstlerischen Eigeninitiative. 2007 wird diese Erfahrung mit einer neuen Gruppe von 15 Erzählern weitergeführt, die drei Tage im Monat im Maison du Conte zusammenarbeiten.
In der Saison 2008/09 bietet das Maison du Conte zwei Labore an : das Labor „Création“ (Neuschöpfung) unter der Leitung von Abbi Patrix und das Labor „Lit’oral“ geleitet von Haïm Isaacs und Didier Kowarsky.
Dieses originelle Abenteuer verleiht den Unternehmungen des Maison du Conte eine entscheident kollektive Dimension.
Am Ende eines jeden Jahres zeigen die einzelnen Laborteilnehmer die Ergebnisse ihrer Arbeit anlässlich eines oder mehrerer öffentlicher Tage : "Die Gärten".
Des weiteren bietet Das Maison du Conte auch professionellen Erzählern, Erziehern und Betreuern von Kleinkindern, Lehrern und Amateuren verschiedene Fortbildungen in Form von Praktika und Workshops an.
Um die Grundsätze der Disziplin zu übermitteln organisiert Das Maison du Conte ausserdem innerhalb und ausserhalb ihrer Mauern, Konferenzen und Diskussionsrunden, animiert von Künstlern und anderen Referenten. Die regelmäßige Veranstaltung "Grand Dire" (grosses Sagen) bietet Gelegenheit zur Gegenüberstellung verschiedener Standpunkte von Wissenschaftlern, Intellektuellen und Forschern einerseits und Künstlern andereseits zu verschiedenen Themen (Geschichten für Kinder, Mythologien, Märchen, Sprache ... )
> Aufführungen und Veranstaltungen
Jede Saison veranstaltet Das Maison du Conte in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Teatrum André Malraux mehrere Vorstellungen von jungen und anerkannten Künstlern in dem multifunktionalen Saal des Maison du Conte (70 Plätze) oder im Teatrum André Malraux von Chevilly-Larue (400 Plätzte).
Die grösseren Events (Grand Dire, Les Jardins ...) bieten ebenfalls die Gelegenheit diese Stücke aufzuführen.
> Sensibilisierung und kulturelle Aktion
_ Das Maison du Conte entwickelt mit seinen Künstlern und denen des Kulturzentrums von Chevilly-Larue Aktionen in Schulen, Kindergärten und Bibliotheken ...
Die Geschichtenerzähler engagieren sich auch für Männer und Frauen im Gefängnissen und organisieren Erzählstunden in privaten Haushalten. Sie realisieren ferner in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Gemeinden oder Vereinen Sammlungen von Erfahrungs- und Zeugenberichte, Erlebnissen, und aktuelle Erzählungen einzelner Personen und Bevölkerungsgruppen.
Diese Projekte sind Teil der grundlegenden Aufgaben Des Maison du Conte. Das Sammeln ist nicht nur Arbeitsmethode und Quelle für die schöpferische Erzählung, sondern auch Mittel der sozialen Verständigung und Bindeglied für die Beziehung des Erzählers zu seinem Publikum. Diese Experimente ermöglichen Dem Maison du Conte den Menschen die keinen Zugang zu Kunst und Kultur haben die Leidenschaft für das Erzählen und die Geschichten zu vermitteln.
Jedes Jahr profitiert ein Publikum von 7000 bis 8000 Personen von diesen Unternehmungen.

> Mondoral
Das Maison du Conte gehört zu Mondoral, einer Organisation die vier nationale Zentren für Erzähler gruppiert. Diese Zentren unterstützen die Kunst des Erzählen im kulturellen Bereich auf nationaler Ebene. Das Verzeichnis von Mondoral umfasst professionnelle Geschichtenerzähler, Amateure, Kulturveranstalter, Vereine, Kulturmanager und Wissenschaftler diesen Bereiches.

> Das nationale Netzwerk des Erzählens
Das Maison du Conte ist Mitglied des nationalen Netzwerkes des Erzählens und der Kunst der Rede, welches die professionellen Strukturen, in diesem Bereich zusammenfasst. Diese Strukturen die in ihrer Region und bei ihrer jeweiligen Bevölkerung wirksam werden, sind Ausdruck einer grossen Vielfalt an künstlerischen und kulturellen Projekten mit dem Ziel, gemeinsam die Entwicklung dieser Kunst zu fördern.
> FEST
In der vorigen Saison wurde ein Projekt für eine Europäische Gemeinschaft des Erzählens in die Wege geleitet. Mit drei anderen Strukturen in Norwegen, Schweden und Grossbritanien ist das Maison du Conte mit Abbi Patrix eine der Gründerorganisationen. Die Ziele dieser Initiative sind die Unterstützung der Entwicklung des Erzählens durch Verbreitung von Informationen, die Förderung der Bekanntmachung durch profesionnelle Strukturen und die Schaffung eines echten europäischen Netzwerkes.
Im August 2008, haben sich 60 Akteure aus verschiedenen kulturellen Einrichtungen aus 17 Ländern Europas für drei Tage in Schweiz getroffen.

La Casa del Cuento está situada en Chevilly-Larue, ciudad de 18 000 habitantes, en el departamento del Val de Marne, a 10 kilómetros de Paris.
BREVE HISTORIA
De 1980 a 1992, el Theatro André Malraux de Chevilly-Larue organizó un festival de cuentistas que fue uno de los acontecimientos más importantes del renacimiento del cuento.
En 1993, el Theatro André Malraux fundó La Casa del Cuento que, en aquella época, dedicaba la mayoría de sus actividades a ayudar a los artistas en su creación de espectáculos.
Desde el 6 de octubre de 1999, La Casa del Cuento está localizada en la Villa Lipsi, antigua morada del escultor Morice Lipsi.
En 2001, Michel Jolivet invitó al cuentista Abbi Patrix en calidad de artista asociado.
Desde junio de 2003, codirigen La Casa del Cuento y han reunido a un equipo de artistas, cuentistas contrastados y novicios, que todos se implican en esta Casa.
MISIONES DE LA CASA DEL CUENTO
Residencia y creación
Regularmente, La Casa del Cuento concede la palabra a artistas jóvenes y más ampliamente a los artistas que privilegian creaciones en relación con un territorio, o creaciones innovativas y contemporáneas.
Cada temporada, acogemos a varios cuentistas en residencia ; los apoyamos en su creación y presentamos al público los espectáculos creados en La Casa del Cuento o en el Theatro André Malraux.
TRANSMISIÓN E INVESTIGACIÓN
De 2003 a 2006, Abbi Patrix y La Casa del Cuento apoyaron a 18 cuentistas muy heterogéneos, en un trabajo de investigación mezclando aprendizaje con exploración artística. En 2007, continuó esta experiencia con un nuevo equipo de 15 cuentistas, que vienen a trabajar en La Casa del Cuento tres días al mes.
Esta temporada, La Casa del Cuento acogerá dos Labos : el Labo « Creación » dirigido por Abbi Patrix y el Labo « Lit’oral » animado por Haïm Isaacs y Didier Kowarsky.
En esta aventura original, se inscriben las acciones e intervenciones de La Casa del Cuento en una dimensión resueltamente colectiva.
Al final de cada año, los ayudantes de laboratorio presentan al público el fruto de su investigación y trabajo durante una o varias jornadas públicas, llamadas « Les Jardins » (los Jardínes).
La Casa del Cuento propone también a cuentistas profesionales, especialistas de la primera infancia, profesores y cuentistas aficionados, varias formaciones, en forma de cursos o talleres, los fines de semana o mensualmente.
Con el fin de transmitir los fundamentos de nuestra disciplina, La Casa del Cuento organiza también en su seno o fuera, conferencias-encuentros, animados por artistas y personalidades reconocidos.
Regularmente las jornadas « Grand Dire » permiten confrontar los puntos de vista de científicos, intelectuales o investigadores con la palabra de cuentistas sobre diferentes temáticas (historias e infancia, la mitología, el cuento maravilloso, el idioma….).
Lugar de espectáculos
En colaboración con el Theatro André Malraux, cada temporada acogemos varios espectáculos de artistas jóvenes o contrastados, en la sala modular de La Casa del Cuento (70 asientos) o bien en el Theatro André Malraux de Chevilly-Larue (sala modular de 400 asientos). Cada acontecimiento (“Grand Dire”, “Semaine”…) es también motivo de una programación de espectáculos.
Cada año, organizamos un acontecimiento en colaboración con la Delegación General de la Lengua Francesa, en el marco de la semana de la lengua francesa.
Sensibilización, acción cultural
Nosotros así como los artistas asociados a la Casa del Cuento y el Theatro André Malraux de Chevilly-Larue, llevamos a cabo acciones culturales con escuelas, guarderías, bibliotecas….
Los cuentistas visitan también a presos y presas en cárceles. También proponemos a los cuentistas que cuenten fuera de nuestra Casa, a domicilio o bien en un territorio en colaboración con administraciones locales, asociaciones sobre proyectos de colecta (colecta de relatos de la calle para luego transformarlos en cuentos).
Estos proyectos forman parte de las misiones fundamentales de la Casa del Cuento. A la vez método de trabajo y fuente de creación, la colecta es también instrumento de vínculo social y vector de la relación del cuentista con su público.
Todas estas aventuras nos permiten transmitir a los que no tienen acceso al espectáculo o a la práctica artística, nuestra pasión por los cuentos.
Cada año, de 7000 a 8000 personas pueden disfrutar de todas estas actividades.

La Compañía del Círculo, compañía convencionada dirigida por Abbi Patrix, está implantada en la Casa del Cuento : produce, organiza y difunde los proyectos personales de creación de Abbi Patrix y trabaja sobre varios proyectos colectivos en la región Ile de France.

Mondoral
La Casa del Cuento forma parte de Mondoral, estructura que concentra cuatro polos nacionales del cuento en las provincias francesas y cuyo objeto es apoyar la disciplina artística del cuento y de los artes de la palabra en el paisaje cultural francés.
Las compañías así como los artistas, organizadores, cuentistas aficionados, agentes y universitarios tienen acceso al anuario de Mondoral.

La Red Nacional del Cuento y de los Artes de la Palabra
La Casa del Cuento es miembro de la Red Nacional del Cuento y de los Artes de la Palabra que integra las estructuras profesionales trabajando en el ámbito del cuento y de los artes de la palabra en Francia.
Implicadas en sus territorios y sus diversas poblaciones, estas estructuras demuestran una gran variedad de proyectos artísticos y culturales, cuya misión es favorecer colectivamente el desarrollo y la promoción de esta disciplina.
FEST
La temporada pasada, se inició un proyecto de Federación Europea del Storytelling (cuento).
Con tres otras estructuras originarias de Noruega, Suecia y Gran Bretaña, la Casa del Cuento, a través de Abbi Patrix, es una de las estructuras fundadoras. El objetivo de esta iniciativa es aportar su apoyo, facilitando medios de información, incrementar la visibilidad de la disciplina a través de sus estructuras profesionales y crear una verdadera red en Europa.
En agosto de 2008, 60 actores pertenecientes a diferentes estructuras culturales de 17 países europeos se reunieron en Suiza durante tres días.
